When people are renovating their homes they spend the most money on two rooms - their kitchen and bathroom.
While there are some parts of your bathroom that you will need to spend money on, you don't need to splash out on everything. Today, we are going to share a few money-saving tricks with you.
We want to make sure that you end up with an expensive-looking bathroom that you love, but we don't want you to break the bank to get it.
#1 - Regularly Redo Your Grout
One of the things that make our bathrooms look less expensive is the grout that is going yellow or black.
This is something completely natural because the grout is constantly exposed to damp air. You can delay this process by cleaning it with water and baking soda. It is best not to use anything acidic, as it can damage the grout and prevent it from doing its job.
However, the more regularly you redo the grout, the better it will look. Grout and sealant normally come in large packs, so you be getting better value for money if you use what you buy more regularly.
#2 - Use Tile Paint
Replacing all the tiles on your bathroom walls can be an expensive endeavor. Over the years, we have learned that tile paint might be the best-kept secret in the world of renovation.
When applied correctly, you can't even tell that the tiles have been painted over.
So, if you want to replace your tiles but can't afford to, find the right shade of tile paint and paint over the "old" tiles.
We don't recommend that you use tile paint on floor tiles - but it works exceptionally well on wall titles. You can also use it in the kitchen.
#3 - Get A Garden Tub
Nothing says luxury more than a free-standing garden tub.
If you are thinking, what is a garden tub, check out this article. They are what interior designers generally call free-standing tubs. When put in the right place they can completely transform a room.
If you get the right garden tub, you won't have to spend very much money on the rest of your bathroom because it will steal the show.
If you are going to invest in anything in your bathroom, we recommend putting your money into a tub and a nice shower.
#4 - The More Mirrors, The Better
If you want to add more light to your bathroom you have two options.
(A) You add a new window.
(B) You add more mirrors to the room.
Option A is expensive and isn't always possible. Option B is a lot easier and kinder to the wallet.
A mirror will bounce light around the room and will make the room look bigger. You can increase this effect by adding more mirrors to the room. Mirrors in bathrooms also don't always have to have frames - so that will help you to save even more money.
#5 - Get An Extractor Fan That Works
If you want your bathroom to look luxurious then you are going to want it to be clean, dry, and dust-free.
None of the above can happen if your extractor fan doesn't work. A cheap extractor fan that sticks out of the wall can also ruin the look of the whole room.
So, to get the best out of your bathroom make sure you have a high-quality extractor fan that works well and looks good while it does that.
If you shop around, you will find that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a good extractor fan.
#6 - Get Creative With Your Lighting
Think about all the luxury bathrooms you have been in - it is likely that most of them have been lit in a non-traditional way.
For example, the overhead lights may have been set into the ceiling to make the room look taller. Some of the bathrooms may be lit by underlighting or by strips of LEDs hidden in unexpected places. It is likely that these bathrooms also had lighting inside cupboards.
When you get creative with your lighting, you can create a luxury feel without the luxury price tag.
